Entry way under construction

Image
I love browsing all of the neat entry ways and mud rooms on Pinterest and online. Unfortunately our home does not have much of an entry way. It pretty much opens up into a great room (quiet easily my favorite room in the house). Despite having a barely there entry way, I was not going to miss out on an opportunity to personalize and make this space extra special. This is no doubt a 2 part project. Part 1 is complete. It was the easier part of the project. Items on the wall are a mixture of old, new and crafted. The family rules sign I picked up a Kohl's during a sale and had a coupon as well. I think it cost me around $15.  The framed family name was a purchase in Key West last year. I was a sucker and paid way too much money, but it was the first official new piece I bought for our new house. The large black S, I picked up at Michael's for $3 or $4. The Live Well and Cherish signs we had and lastly, I bought the canvas and wooden letters from Michael's for each of

Fall is here or at least my Fall decor is

I have been dragging my feet when it comes to putting away all of my summer home decor. Not really sure why because I love decorating the house for the Fall months and holidays. The Mr. is not big on Halloween decorations so I tend to keep it more friendly and harvesty (is that even a word?). In an effort to motivate myself to drag out all of my Fall decor from the garage, I decided to make my first Fall home project. This was a super simple project, which cost me a total of $2, which was the cost of the candy corn. I had the bowls, ribbon and tea light candles. Let me know what you think.

Labor Day Weekend in Seattle

Image
The Mr. & I spent the long Labor Day weekend in Seattle, Washington celebrating the marriage of two friends, Patrick and Kaylin. The wedding and all of the festivities were just perfect. No details overlooked. Seattle is an amazing city. I can officially say, "Move over Boston," Seattle has been added to my list of places I would move if it wasn't so far and cold (I'd probably be the only registered Republican for miles, ha, ha). We flew out of Fort Lauderdale early morning on Thursday. Alaska Air just started flying direct in June, so there were no stops. Alaska air is run by Delta. It was a nice flight, besides being almost 6 hours. The staff was very friendly and there seemed to be more leg room then the average coach seat. Note to the wise- we took a red eye home on Alaska Air and sat in the row in front of the emergency exit row. BIG mistake. These seats do not recline! No fun flying 5+ hours trying to sleep in the up right position. The Mr. and I hit the
